What is Jhandi Munda?
Jhandi Munda (also called Langur Burja in Nepal, or Crown and Anchor in its colonial-era form) is a dice game played with six dice, each carrying the same six symbols: Jhandi (flag), Munda (crown), Burja (spade), heart, diamond and club. You bet on a symbol, all six dice are rolled together, and you're paid according to how many dice show your symbol.

Each die shows your symbol with probability 1/6, so across six dice the count follows a binomial distribution:

So your symbol shows up at least once in ~66.5% of throws — which is why the game feels winnable — but 60% of those wins are the smallest payout.
Why the street version quietly favours the operator
Here's the elegant maths: six dice are rolled, and six symbols split them, so the average number of dice showing your symbol is exactly 1. If every multiple were paid at true "per-die" rates (1:1, 2:1, 3:1…), the game would be dead even — zero house edge. Street operators keep an edge in two ways:
- Capped or shaved payouts on 3+ appearances (paying 3:1 where the fair rate compounds higher, or a flat "double" on any multiple).
- Payout on wins only variants, where two appearances still pay just 1:1 — that single rule moves the edge to roughly 8%.
Online versions publish an RTP instead — always check it before playing anywhere. Anything below ~96% is worse than most live casino tables.
